Overview:
Ian worked at a leading national law firm for over 13 years specialising in intellectual property law before joining Barker Brettell, and has considerable experience in brand protection, exploitation and enforcement. He advises multinational corporations, SME’s and new start-ups in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, retail, consumer goods and luxury brands, financial services and education.
Ian also works with many of the firm’s university clients, carrying out strategic advice in connection with international trade mark protection and filing and managing UK and overseas filing programmes. He also has significant experience in relation to domain name recovery work, bringing one of the first successful “.eu” complaints at the then new Czech Arbitration Courts and has enjoyed considerable success with domain name dispute resolution actions at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), EURid and Nominet.
