Barker Brettell attorneys give lectures to postgraduate management students
We were pleased to accept an invitation from Aston University to add some real-world experience to the intellectual property (IP) module of one of its management courses.
Lucy Walker, Toby Gosnall and John Lawrence each delivered a lecture during the autumn term to an audience of postgraduate management students. John, who is our senior partner, said: “As a firm we are really proud of our strong ties with universities and are privileged to get to work with many academics across the UK. It is fantastic to have the chance with these lectures to pass on our experience, help out in the community, and reinforce our links with the university world.”
The topics covered by our attorneys included IP management, licensing and the valuation of IP. Lucy, a trade mark attorney and partner at our Birmingham office, was pleased by how well received the lectures were. She noted: “It was great to see that the students at Aston found it useful to have a real–world slant on what they had been learning. Hopefully there will be many more opportunities to liaise with universities and help out with our expertise.”
